Out and About In Alice Springs

Another beautiful day dawned and as we had only planned to do things around Alice itself, we took it easy and had a late start.  It was also very cold - we even had to put an extra blanket onto the bed last night!!

Our first stop was back into the Post Office where there was a parcel for me to collect and then OPSM to get my spectacles adjusted.  When we returned to The Turtle, The Captain noticed that the radiator was leaking again.  It was leaking a few days ago but an obvious problem was not evident and a container of "Stop Leak" seemed to prove effective.  We continued on our little touristy thing including a trip up to the local lookout - Anzac Hill - but, unfortunately, the radiator did not want to co-operate and we had to cut short our tripping around and return to the Caravan Park to enable The Captain to try and solve the problem.

Looking South Through Heavitree Gap
On our way back to the caravan park, we were fortunate to see The Ghan heading south towards Adelaide through Heavitree Gap so we had to do what most tourists would do and stop and take a couple of photos!

Self Explanatory!

The Rest of the Train
The Captain was unable to find the problem with the radiator - mainly because it didn't do anything wrong again - so we booked The Turtle into a radiator specialist for Monday.  In the meanwhile (and hoping nothing goes seriously wrong) most of Team Turtle will be heading to a place north east of Alice Springs called  Gemtree for a couple of days.  We have already booked in for a tour of the nearby gemfields where we will be doing some fossicking and hoping to find some pretty stones.

Anyway, here's keeping our fingers crossed that nothing serious happens to the radiator and that we return to Alice Springs safely.
