Still in Darwin

Most are probably wondering why we are still in Darwin - well, apart from the gorgeous weather, The Captain's cousin (Maureen from Perth) is flying up later this month for a visit and sightseeing tour.  So it looks like we might just have to hang around and find that elusive fishing hole with a large fish in it that wants to be caught.

On Thursday, we parked the Turtle at Casuarina Shopping Square and caught the bus into the city for a spot of sightseeing.  A very pleasant trip indeed!  Even though Darwin is a major city, it still seems to have a easy, laid-back sort of feel about it.  Lots of nice new buildings and topped off by a nicely refurbished waterfront.  The powers that be have managed to build a convention/entertainment centre, a wave pool and a "beachside" area on a the harbour.  Apparently, the water is recirculated from the main harbour on a regular basis without all of the nasties - like box jellyfish, stingers and crocodiles!!

We took Tuf Cat out for another paddle (and to try and catch some decent fish) but we did have another nice day on the water.  Nothing really exciting happened except that we nearly ran out of water again - there are a lot of sandbars around here - but, fortunately, the tide had just turned and we didn't have to spend any time where we didn't want to.

We do plan to have another fishing day tomorrow (Sunday) as long as we don't sleep in and miss that high tide.

Have a great weekend!!
