At least it gets the cobwebs and some of the dust out!!
Arrived here early Wednesday morning and ended up settling into one of the "overflow" caravan parks that are allowed to open during the very mad tourist season. Once more, it even had to be an unpowered site but we were "upgraded" to a powered site this morning (Thursday).
We started our touristy thing after lunch with a quick drive down to the boat ramp and were amazed by the absolute brilliant turquoise coloured waters of the Indian Ocean. We haven't seen the water this attractive since we left the east coast over four months ago!! Then again, all of our fishing expeditions have been on, or near, large river systems. The nearest river to Broome is the Fitzroy River and that is about 40 klms away and runs into King Sound near Derby. The beaches also have proper sand - not muddy silt - and smallish waves YIPPEE!!

After we got over the shook of seeing proper water and beaches, we felt that we needed to go and enjoy them for ourselves - which we did. The sun was shining and the water was sparkling and then the tide reached its peak for the afternoon and that was the end of the peace and quiet.
The northern end of Cable Beach was inundated with just about every man and his dog or camel. Three different camel tour operators (with a dozen camels each) descended on the beach as well as heaps of 4WD's with their occupants and walking people. The camels are usually there every afternoon no matter what the tide is like but the cars can only come around the rocks when the tide is dropping. It was mayhem, so we packed up and left.
This morning was a shopping sort of day. Looked thru a couple of pearl places in town - hmmm, what has my Mum always said about champagne tastes with a beer income? - did some more touristy stuff and then back to the beach for some more Vitamin D and a swim.

Tomorrow (Friday) we are hoping to put Tuf Cat back in for a swim and clean those muddy waters out of her props and dust her off. Maybe (with a bit of luck) we might even catch some fish!
See you soon!
