Turtle On The Beach

Still here in Broome and thoroughly enjoying the beautiful sunshine. Although the temperature has dropped a bit over the last few nights.

Haven't put Tuf Cat in the water as the tides are just all wrong - a bit of a shame but then that's boating!

Found where there are some more dinosaur footprints - on a headland called Gantheaume Point.  Some of the footprints can only be seen at a certain tide and as we had been for a few walks, we decided to admire the view from above.  The local authorities had previously had  the sense to cast some dinosaur footprints in concrete so that all could see them at any time of the day.

Dinosaur Footprints at Gantheaume Point
Gantheaume Point would have seemed like a very desolate place when the first explorers and settlers arrived - rocks, rocks and more rocks - but one would like to think that the beautiful beach would have encouraged them to stay!

Today was maintenance morning in preparation of our return trip "back east".  Afterwards, we decided to relax (again) down at the beach.  The Captain had a brilliant idea - why not drive The Turtle down onto the beach.  It's a Four Wheel Drive and nearly every other man and his dog drive their vehicles onto the beach.  The Deckie did have a few moments of apprehension and trepidation (thinking back to other moments of madness and misadventures) but The Captain's skills were brilliant as he negotiated the rocks and damp sand to get us safely onto the beach and then back off it again.  The water was crystal clear (again), the sun was bright and shiny and it was a great afternoon!

Looking North along Cable Beach
This part of Cable Beach is the only section that you can drive on and it would also look familiar as it is also where the camel trains do their thing!  This sort of lifestyle is just sooooo hard to take!!!  ;-)))
