Settled In Nicely

Yep, I have been rather remiss in my postings but this laid back lifestyle is just, well - laidback.

Fishing again on Friday - went southwest this time for a few klms.  Caught another rather large mudcrab and a large blue salmon.  Both were very tasty indeed!  As the Captain doesn't eat a lot of seafood, it looks like the deckie may end up turning into a mermaid with all of the good seafood stuff that she is eating.

Yesterday (Saturday) was very windy so Tuf Cat had a rest day.  The hunter and gatherer took their chairs and rods down to the beach and out of wind.  As it turned out, the rest of the itinerant population of Karumba did the same.  The conclusion that we came to was that we were using the wrong bait (prawns and not live bait) so we conceded defeat and bought a cast net.  Cast nets are illegal in New South Wales so the Captain has to learn how to use one and no doubt the deckie will have to as well.

A late start today (Sunday) as there wasn't a great deal of water at the boat ramp for Tuf Cat this morning.  Headed straight out into the Gulf through the channel markers.  Caught a couple of smallish fish and lots of catfish - two of which injured the Captain as he tried to remove the hooks from the mouths.  To compensate for this, the fishing gods gave the Captain a chance to prove his skills.  He hooked and landed (after a long struggle) a very large Queenfish.  Took the photos and released him back into his home to let him think about his close call.

Definitely, the Catch of the Day
