We have Crabs!!!

Well, one crab anyway and a very nice spotted grunter!!

As mentioned previously, we thought that after dragging Tuf Cat's sorry arse over 4,000 klms we thought it best that she finally has a dip in the briney (salt water for all of you landlubbers) apart from the muddy old fresh water the last couple of times.  And what a very nice day to start our stay here at Karumba.  We headed north with not a lot of change in the view - flat open sparkly water on the port side and mangroves on the starboard - until we found a very nice little creek.  Dropped a couple of crab traps down and then back out to the mouth for some fishing.

The deckie managed to haul in a small spotted grunter (threw him straight back), a keepable threadfin salmon, a 60cm spotted grunter (very keepable) and another largish threadfin salmon.  Both salmon were sent back home as the grunter was large enough to keep us both fed for a couple of days.

All of this excitement for the deckie would not have been possible if the captain had not assisted her by organising his tackle and stuff!

We then retrieved the crab traps.  One trap was obviously put in the wrong spot but the other one managed to trap a very nice muddy - we didn't have to bend his legs too much to put him into the pot!!

Yep, definitely a boy crab!

The catches of the day!

The grunter was beautiful last night and tonight's dinner will be cold mud crab for entree and the rest of the fish for the main course - yummo!!

Have a great day!!
