Yep, still being pretty laid back and enjoying the wonderful sunshine and fairly pleasant temperatures - it is still reaching the low to mid 30's.  It gets cool thru the night though - at least down to the low/mid 20's.  We are sending warm thoughts to those who are freezing in and around Sydney!

No fishing on Monday - a bit breezy again so we opted to practice our cast netting instead.  However, because of the strange tides that happen around here, there was very little water out there so we just found a spot out of the wind and soaked up some more sunshine.

Yesterday (Tuesday) we took to the water and headed north again.  The little creek where we caught our fish last week was inundated with boats and fishing people so we found another small creek running off it and did some trolling.  Had a couple of small bites but nothing overly successful.

On our way back to port, we had a couple of stops and caught some more salmon and a couple of very small sharks - all of them going back into the drink.  Meanwhile, the tide was dropping so we thought it prudent to continue the trek home - in a hurry.  Unfortunately, the transducer on the sounder decided it didn't like Tuf Cat travelling at high speed and "spat the dummy", nearly leaving us stranded on the mud flats.  Now, one has to imagine a large body of water without waves crashing onto the shore - this leaves very large areas of muddy, silty, sandy stuff stretching for about a kilometre from shore with only about two metres of water over them at high tide.  Therefore, with the tide dropping, there wasn't much water to float on and without a sounder, we couldn't find the small channels that the boats use to get through.  Thankfully, the skills of the Captain was more came to the fore and we managed to make it back to the deeper water and safe passage home.  Unfortunately, when we arrived back at the boat ramp, the tide was running too fast and the Deckie was unable to put Tuf Cat onto her trailer and it was left up to the Captain.  A bit sad for the Deckie, but it was the first time she hasn't been able to do it this trip.

Today (Wednesday) was maintenance day and hopefully the transducer was fixed.  We won't know until tomorrow when the Araldite has dried properly.  A bit more cast net practice, some shopping and Turtle driving (by the Deckie).  What else is there to do in a place like this?  Except hopefully catch some more fish!!
